Microsoft mixed up the Surface name at its new devices presentation

Microsoft перепутала название Surface на презентации новых устройств

Last night Microsoft showed new devices, among them several Copilot+ PCs on the Nvidia RTX Spark system-on-chip. But what was remembered most was something else: on a slide, the Surface line was apparently called “Surace.”

The typo, as we assume, was on the slide about the number of ports on Microsoft's expensive device. The new product was presented by Pavan Davuluri, the very executive who promised to address Windows quality problems. The showing of the Surface Laptop Ultra and its capabilities inadvertently turned into a demonstration of that quality: the mistake was seen both by those gathered in the hall and by viewers online.

Correspondents asked Microsoft whether the typo was intentional. The company did not respond.

Microsoft has had mishaps at presentations before. Windows 98 once produced a blue screen during a live demonstration over USB. Though to mix up the name of its own product on a slide takes far less technical effort.
