On October 22, 2026, Merck and Moderna reported detailed phase 3 INTerpath-001 results. The study enrolled 1,137 patients with completely resected stage IIB–IV melanoma.
Adding investigational personalized mRNA therapy intismeran to pembrolizumab reduced the relative risk of recurrence or death by 42% compared with pembrolizumab alone. At two years, recurrence-free survival was 82.2% in the combination group and 70% in the control group.
These results do not mean the therapy guarantees a cure. Overall survival data are not yet mature, and the study continues. The companies reported that they are engaging with regulators.
