Apple introduced new MacBook Pro models with tandem PROLED XDR OLED displays and touch controls—a first for the Mac. The screen can be operated by touch, while the keyboard and trackpad remain available.
The laptops will come with 14- and 16-inch displays and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. The screen supports refresh rates of up to 120 Hz and the P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces; peak brightness reaches 2,000 nits, and the contrast ratio is 10,000,000:1.
The Mac will also get Dynamic Island, with quick access to Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI. Apple says battery life is up to 24 hours. Touch controls can be used, for example, to scroll through pages, zoom in on photos, and work with graphics and music apps.
Pre-orders opened on October 28. Deliveries to customers and in-store sales are scheduled to begin on November 6.
