Bugbot would not review a pull request opened by the user’s agent

On October 10, 2026, a user named Oleg (Oleg_B1) said in the feedback section of the Cursor community forum that the built-in reviewer Bugbot would not work with a pull request opened by his agent rather than by himself.

Oleg noted that agents open pull requests regularly and that this is already the norm, and he saw the situation as an attempt to sell him an upgrade so that he could use his included tokens to review PRs.

On October 12, support replied in the same thread. An employee under the nickname deanrie (Dean Rie) explained that the goal is not to pressure the user. On individual plans, Bugbot reviews pull requests whose author is the GitHub account linked to the Cursor account. If a PR is opened under a different identity, for example a separate bot or a GitHub App, it does not fall within the coverage. That is exactly what the "account mismatch" message means. Dean Rie agreed that the wording may sound like a call to upgrade, although it is intended differently.

He listed ways to keep coverage for PRs from agents as things stand now. Pull requests opened by Cursor cloud agents that the user starts themselves are already included in the plan. If an agent opens a PR under your GitHub credentials, meaning the author is you, Bugbot will review it automatically. Alternatively, you can run the /review-bugbot command in the agent's chat to review the branch before opening the PR.

Dean Rie also asked to clarify which agent exactly is opening the PR. If it is a Cursor cloud agent that the user started themselves, and a mismatch message still arrives, that should not happen. In that case, he suggested sending a link to the PR and the Request ID so that the matter could be looked into in more detail.
