On October 15, 2026, Tesla unveiled the new Roadster at SpaceX’s site in McGregor, Texas. During the demonstration, the prototype drove upside down along an arched structure, then used SpaceX thrusters to fly forward, perform a barrel roll and land.
According to Tesla, a fan system beneath the car generates 2 g of suction force. SpaceX thrusters, the presentation claimed, produce more than 80 kilonewtons of thrust.
The demonstration also claimed acceleration to 60 mph in one second on the first run and 0.8 seconds on the second. Elon Musk said he expects even better results.
Musk named 2028 as the target for the start of production but did not disclose the price. He also cautioned that he was not sure such a car would be legal in all jurisdictions.
