Anthropic said it has worked with six organizations developing medicines in recent months and has started its own drug-discovery projects. The company is exploring how Claude can help at different stages of development, from selecting a target to preparing documents for clinical trials.
In partners’ projects, Claude helped generate antibody variants for developing an approach to treating food allergies, analyze laboratory data, and review manufacturing documentation. Bristol Myers Squibb uses Claude to analyze plans for trials of an early-stage drug and assess the likelihood that they will succeed. The companies plan to expand this work in 2027.
Anthropic’s own projects include research into rare childhood forms of muscular dystrophy. According to the company, Claude carries out a substantial share of the scientific and operational work. The research is still mostly preclinical: most of it has not yet reached the stage of testing drugs in people.
