First A20 Pro benchmarks: iPhone 18 Pro shows up to 28% increase

Early on September 10, 2026, the first Geekbench 7 results for the A20 Pro chip, installed in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, appeared in the database. These data are preliminary and not confirmed by independent experts, but they provide the first glimpse of performance of Apple’s new flagships.

According to records, the iPhone 18 Pro scores 4719 points in single-core and 12,677 points in multi-core tests. The Pro Max shows similar results: 4725 and 12,575 points respectively. Both devices feature a six-core processor running at approximately 4.93 GHz.

Compared to the A19 Pro chip in last year’s iPhone 17 Pro, the performance increase is approximately 21–23% in single-core mode and 27–28% in multi-core. These figures significantly exceed Apple’s minimal promises, which the company stated in a press release: up to 20% CPU acceleration.

The graphics subsystem also shows serious progress. Early Metal results in Geekbench 6 (also unconfirmed) indicate that the new 7-core GPU in the A20 Pro is 38–40% faster than the 6-core GPU in the A19 Pro. This almost exactly matches Apple’s claim of up to a 40% increase in graphics performance.

The A20 Pro chip is manufactured using a 2-nanometer process. In addition to a six-core CPU with integrated neural accelerators, it offers 50% more memory bandwidth than its predecessor. Apple also claims that the new chip packaging and redesigned vapor chamber deliver up to 40% higher sustained performance under prolonged loads.

It is important to remember that synthetic benchmarks do not always reflect real-world device behavior. Single Geekbench runs do not show how the smartphone will perform during extended gaming sessions or other resource-intensive tasks. Nevertheless, the first numbers look impressive and suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro will be a notable step forward in performance.
