Apple officially announced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The smartphones received a 48MP Fusion main camera with variable aperture, which for the first time on iPhone allows control over depth of field and light intake.

The aperture is controlled by six laser-cut blades that smoothly switch between preset values. Users can manually adjust the aperture in the Camera app, and an API is available for third-party developers.

The new A20 Pro processor is built on a 2nm process. According to Apple, it features a 6-core CPU and a 7-core GPU that is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro. The dual 16-core Neural Engine doubles AI performance.

iPhone 18 Pro Max provides up to 45 hours of video playback on eSIM models, iPhone 18 Pro—up to 36 hours. Wired charging can replenish up to 50% in about 15 minutes. Both devices support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.

Smartphones run iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and the new voice assistant Siri AI, the beta version of which will be released on September 14. To verify the authenticity of photos, the Apple Reference Image feature and support for the SynthID standard are provided.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are available in four colors: black, silver, glacier, and new burgundy. Storage options range from 256 GB to 2 TB. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 in the US, Pro Max at $1,299. Pre-orders open on September 12, sales begin on September 18 in more than 65 countries.
