OpenAI pauses new ChatGPT Pro subscriptions at $200
OpenAI has temporarily paused new subscriptions to the $200 per month ChatGPT Pro plan (also referred to as Pro 20x). The restriction applies only to new sign-ups and upgrades to this plan.
According to OpenAI’s official help page, existing $200 subscriptions will renew as usual. $100 Pro subscriptions are unaffected — they can still be purchased by both new and existing users.
If a user previously cancelled the $200 Pro subscription, they will not be able to purchase it again until the restriction is lifted. If a user has scheduled a downgrade from the $200 Pro plan to another plan, they can cancel this downgrade before the end of the current billing period and keep uninterrupted Pro access.
OpenAI does not specify how long the pause will last. The help information provides no timeline for resuming sales. The company has not disclosed the reason for the suspension.
